Michael Eric Dyson—best-selling author, scholar and radio host—will headline the 2012 Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration at Case Western Reserve University.  Dyson will speak at the free, public convocation at 12:30 p.m., Friday, Jan. 20, 2012, in Amasa Stone Chapel, 10940 Euclid Ave. on the Case Western Reserve campus.

The acclaimed University Professor of Sociology at Georgetown University is a two-time recipient of the NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Literary Work in Nonfiction, Ebony magazine’s pick as one of the most powerful African Americans, a recipient of the American Book Award and the notable author of two New York Times bestsellers.  His work is also featured among Newsweek’s A Life in Books.

During his campus talk, he will draw from his 16 books, including April 4, 1968: Martin Luther King, Jr.’s Death and How it Changed America, which celebrates the civil rights leader’s legacy.

Case Western Reserve will honor King with a number of planned events on campus around the theme “MLK: Honoring his legacy in a new era”:
