R&B Artist Tank to perform at Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum’s 15th Annual Rock and Soul Festival

CLEVELAND (June 13, 2012) - The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum is excited to announce that R&B musical artist, Tank will perform at this year’s 15th Annual Rock and Soul Festival along with other national and local artists including, Spirit ‘N’ Truth, Minister Eddie B. Sands Jr. and Terry Macklin Sounds of Entertainment, June 24th, 1:00p.m. to 4:00p.m. Sponsored by Key Bank, this free event is open to the general public however paid admission is still necessary to tour the Museum.

 

The Rock and Soul Festival is a celebration of African American music. The vitality of Black influence on American music and culture has been irresistible; its impact, profound and lasting. This soulful festival features performances by national and local artists and coincides with Black Music Month.

 

Tank, whose music is easily recognizable for its vivid storytelling and sensual sounds, rose to the top of the charts with his song, Maybe I Deserve in 2001. Since then he has been a successful artist with four albums and eight Grammy nominations. He describes his current album, Now or Never as his most confident album yet.

While stepping out of the spotlight, Tank stayed busy stretching his talents into acting, appearing in the motion picture production of Dreamgirls and The Preacher’s Kid.  Also an accomplished songwriter, Tank has penned songs for Jennifer Hudson, Jamie Fox, and Chris Brown and has written hits for Rueben Studdard and Omarion. 

 

With his fourth album, Now or Never, Tank will return to the music that his fans have come to love while sharing a new, more intimate side of himself.

 

Other musical artist slated to perform are Spirit ‘N’ Truth, a local gospel ministry group comprised of six men and woman, who have joined together despite personal adversities to perform both contemporary and traditional gospel music.

 

Minister Eddie B. Sands Jr. another inspiring gospel artist originally from Cleveland, will perform.  Sands has opened for such great singers as Gerald Levert and Richard Smallwood and performed on numerous stages around the country including Cleveland’s own Karamu House Theatre.

Terry Macklin Sounds of Entertainment will also be on hand to keep the audience engaged and entertained.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum is the nonprofit organization that exists to educate visitors, fans and scholars from around the world about the history and continuing significance of rock and roll music. The Museum is open seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. On Wednesdays (and Saturdays through Labor Day), the Museum is open until 9 p.m. Museum admission is $22 for adults, $17 for seniors (65+), $13 for youth (9-12), $18 for adult residents of Greater Cleveland.
