Shaker Heights High School music students to perform the National Anthem alongside The Cleveland Orchestra
As part of its education and community programs, http://www.clevelandorchestra.com/" href="http://www.clevelandorchestra.com/">http://www.clevelandorchestra.com/">The Cleveland Orchestra will perform an in-school concert at Shaker Heights High School today, October 11, at 10:45 a.m. The entire student body will attend the program, to be held in the school’s Large Auditorium. Conductor Giancarlo Guerrero will lead The Cleveland Orchestra in Stravinsky’s lively ballet score, Pétrouchka. Shaker Heights High School students will share the stage with The Cleveland Orchestra and sing The Star-Spangled Banner to open the program.
This concert is the first to be supported by the newly established Alfred Lerner In-School Performance Fund that permanently endows Cleveland Orchestra performances in area high schools.
Prior to the Orchestra performance, the Shaker Heights High School Chamber Orchestra will receive coaching by Cleveland Orchestra musicians who reside in Shaker Heights.
The Cleveland Orchestra’s education and community programs aim to bring orchestral music to more people in Northeast Ohio than ever before. Its innovative programs are designed to broaden and deepen the Orchestra’s connection with the Cleveland community – and the community’s connection with classical music – for people of all ages.
Camera crews and photographers are invited to shoot video and photographs of The Cleveland Orchestra’s performance at Shaker Heights High School. On-site interviews with representatives from the Orchestra and Shaker Heights are available upon request.
