TV Review: ‘Basketball Wives’ – Episode five

Television network VH-1 has been known for their controversial reality shows. For many of us, these shows remain to be a guilty pleasure. Each week I find myself watching in complete disgust at the behavior of many of these women. Yet to no avail, I continue to watch!

‘Basketball Wives’ has become a weekly recording on my DVR. Executive Producer, Shaunie O’Neal, ex-wife of Shaquille O’Neal, along with 6 other women allows us into their drama filled lives each week.

This week on ‘Basketball Wives, Tami Roman, ex-wife of Kenny Anderson (and former “Real World” participant), undergoes smart liposuction to lose those last few unwanted pounds. I personally have never heard of this and absolutely cringed when I saw them sticking these tubes into her to melt the fat, then suction out the fat, all the while she was awake, but I digress. Tami was clearly in a lot of pain after her surgery. And the camera made sure we saw the blood and fluid oozing from her body when she walked. Anything in the name of beauty I suppose.

Royce Reed, mother of basketball player Dwight Howard’s son invited some of the ladies to participate in a so-called fashion show for charity, but the ladies decided not to attend because the fashions were less than fashionable. I can’t argue with them about the outfits the “designers” chose. The thought of wearing what looked like a crushed velvet batman cape would have been a complete turn off for me as well. However, the ladies could and should have sucked it up and done the show for the good of the charity.

Jennifer Williams, and her husband NBA small forward, Eric Williams, went to see a therapist about their rollercoaster relationship. One moment Jennifer is disgusted with her husband for his infidelity and the next moment she wants to work things out, while Eric clearly could care less and wants the relationship to be over so he can move on. In my opinion, Jen either has the lowest self-esteem in the world, or Eric Williams has something else going on that we are not aware of.
