 It’s Open Enrollment Time!

How many times have you heard “It takes a village to raise a child?” Hillary Clinton said it and no one understands it more than a parent looking for quality daycare.  A year of high-quality preschool can help prepare children for success in school and beyond. In fact, nine out of ten kindergarten teachers say that children who attend preschool are better prepared for school than those who don’t.

Established in 1945, Karamu’s KECDC/ Preschool of the Arts is nationally recognized as one of the nation’s oldest and most enriching programs of its kind.  KECDC/The Preschool of the Arts is located at 2355 East 89th Street in the Fairfax area offering year-round full or half day services to preschoolers ages 3 to 5 years and before and after-school services for 5 to 14 years of age.  Children who attend KECDC/Preschool of the Arts are...

  • More likely to read proficiently by third grade
  • More likely to graduate from high school and pursue higher education
  • Less likely to be held back or placed in special education

Children who attend KECDC/Preschool of the Arts will participate in the PNC Bank sponsored Grow Up Great Program with instruction at the Cleveland Museum of Art; participate in the Children’s Museum Architectural Building Blocks program; they will work with computers in each of their classrooms, go on fieldtrips as well as participate in weekly instruction in drama, music and dance as part of the normal curriculum.  Qualified teachers oversee each classroom and a culinary specialist prepares the food daily.

The KECDC/Preschool of the Arts is dedicated to the needs of the parents and children.  We are committed to educating children and playing a major role in each child’s development from three to five years of age. Each child is special to us!  County Vouchers, other County Programs and Private Pay are accepted for payments.
