10 inches coming this afternoon

CLEVELAND– A Blizzard warning is in effect from 7am Wed to 7am Thu for the counties along Lake Erie plusHuronCounty. Expect heavy snow today along with winds gusting to 35mph dropping visibility to less than 1/4 mile.
If you ever wonder whyClevelandis a great place to stay, then you must love the winter’s they are known for. A major winter storm is pushing throughOhiotoday and will have widespread impacts. Locally we will see everything from heavy snow, strong wind gusts and low visibility making travel condition near impossible. Timing will be crucial with the forecast and your plans throughout the day.
The first thing we'll notice today will be the cold air and breezy northeast wind. Temperatures early in the day are in the upper 20s and lowers 30s, factor in a northeast breeze and wind chills will be dipping into the teens.
Throughout the morning, snow will be slowly pushing northeast along theOhio RiverValley. Expect the first snowflakes to fall inRichlandandAshlandcounties just after sunrise and then spread northeast toAshtabulaCountyby noon.
The heaviest snow will fall after 12-noon through sunset. Expect accumulations to be as high as 2" per hour. By 3pm we'll see snowfall amounts as high as 6" area wide. Before the snow tapers off some locations could have 12" of snow.
In addition to the snow, areas alongLake Eriewill have winds gusting frequently as high as 35mph. This means blowing snow will become a problem for drivers. Expect snow covered roads throughout the afternoon along with drifting snow.
After midnight, the snow will taper with another 1-3 inches possible.
