One person has died following an officer-involved shooting on Cleveland’s east side.

The shooting happened near East 93rd Street and Raymond Avenue just before 10 p.m. Tuesday, Cleveland police said.

Officers at the scene said four Cleveland vice detectives spotted two men running from a store. One of the men stopped and squatted and began firing at a third person.

"The detectives then told the male to drop the gun at which time the male turned and fired two shots at the detectives at which they returned fire, hitting the male," said Cleveland Police Sgt. Sammy Morris. "EMS was notified. he was taken to Metro where he later expired."

Also on Tuesday night, about 80 Cleveland police officers from across the city fanned out across Cleveland's second police district, which is on the west side, as a show of force against crime. The shooting happened in the fourth police district.

Police have the second person that was running with the shooter in custody. The person that the shooter was shooting at has not been located.
