Highlighted during the call was the upcoming focus on Juneteenth (June 16) when a weekend of activities is planned to register people and urge of the importance of voting.
For the second time in weeks, two Clevelandwomen have had the opportunity to introduce First Lady Michelle Obama.
Yesterday, Michelle Obama hosted a conference call for Ohio African Americans for Obama where Jane Cheeks, former member of the Cuyahoga County Board of Elections, had the opportunity to introduce the First Lady to those of us on the phone.
Speaking toOhiovolunteers for Obama and the Call & Post, Michelle in addition to thanking everyone for their help, stressed the importance of everyone working to register people and making certain that they VOTE.
Questioning the First Lady was Donald Brook, a student atWilberforceUniversity, who
was concerned about education and its cost. First Lady Obama responded by reminding us of the President’s push to have Congress cap monthly repayments of student loans by July 2012 when it expires or the interest percentage doubles.
This is an issue that is close to home for both the Obamas.
Brenda Lewis fromToledo, a neighborhood team leader, asked Mrs. Obama, “What can we tell people that the president is doing to restore our economy?”
Tell Congress to pass the Jobs Bill, said Obama.
The president’s focus is on building an economy that is built to last and giving all Americans a fair shot at middle class with security from a good education to quality health care.
The President knows that the American people live up to their responsibility every day and it’s time for leaders inWashington,D.C.to live up to theirs.
Highlighted during the call was the upcoming focus on Juneteenth (June 16) when a weekend of activities is planned to register people and urge of the importance of voting.
She asked those on the call to multiply themselves.
“Help us re-elect President Obama and give him four more years to continue the work he has started.”
“The Campaign is about people coming together and we are counting on the support of people like you.” She concluded with a final, “Thanks for all you do.”
