Retired cop charged

Dale Edwards (60) a retiredClevelandpolice officer has been charged with aggravated murder in connection with a shooting during a landlord-tenant dispute. Police said Edwards was taken into custody following the shooting Wednesday onEast 151st StreetbetweenBartlett AvenueandKinsman Road.

The victim, who has been identified as 25-year-old Antoine Graves ofCleveland, was arguing with his landlord over rent money – and during that argument the landlord pulled out a handgun and shot the man in the chest, police said. The victim was not armed, according to police.

Graves was taken toMetroHealthMedicalCenter, where he died a short time later.

The Cleveland Police Department said Edwards is a retiredClevelandpolice sergeant, and called police dispatch to alert them of the shooting.
