Akron residents to rally before Mitt Romney speech Thursday Night
Local Residents Rally Against Campaign Promises to Cut Medicaid and
Medicare in Order to Give More Tax Breaks to the Rich
Akron - While Mitt Romney accepts his party's nomination for President at the GOP Convention in Tampa tomorrow, ProgressOhio and local concerned residents will gather outside of Summit County Republican Party Headquarters, 1755 Merriman Road, Akron, to express disapproval of the GOP nominee's economic plan for the country. The event, organized by ProgressOhio, is one of dozens of speak-outs against the Romney economy happening around the country on Thursday, Aug. 30.
"Whether it is women who deserve respect, consumers who need health care, or workers who need good-paying jobs with good benefits, the Romney-Ryan ticket of the 1% does not reflect the hopes and aspirations of our great nation," said Brian Rothenberg, Executive Director, ProgressOhio. "Millionaires would receive additional tax breaks with the money the Romney-Ryan plan would take from the rest of us. Our vision is different. We embrace a vision of America that works for all of us - the 99% -- and prioritizes good jobs, health care, building infrastructure and education. In our vision, the 1% pay their fair share."
