COLUMBUS – State Representative Alicia Reece (D-Cincinnati) has recently launched a Facebook group to help everyday citizens locate job openings in the area.  The group, titled “They Are Hiring At,” allows members to post available jobs with details and contact information, and serves as a forum for users to ask questions and receive feedback about available positions posted.

Founded in 2004, Facebook’s social media network boasts approximately 800 million active users. While many businesses create their own individual Facebook profiles where they advertise and may occasionally post hiring announcements, the “They Are Hiring At” group is an interactive community-based page where users can find information about jobs openings in various sectors and from all across the city. Rather than having one source of information, any user that knows of an available position is free to share the information by posting on the group’s wall.

“A lot of social media interactions involve invites to parties or other social events,” said Rep. Alicia Reece. “I wanted to create something that could have a positive impact on the lives of individuals in the community. What started out as just a simple idea has really taken on a life of its own, and has been helpful in providing job tips, interviews, and some employment.”
