Plus Bishop, I heard you say on a radio talk show that, "Everyday is Mother's Day as long as she is living." My sons honor me as their mother everyday.
A Mother's Day Prayer, the letters keep coming!
Bishop Moultry,
I've been reading your Bishop Speaks column for years and I first want to thank you so much for your powerful insights. Your columns have made me cry, laugh and address issues in my family using the Word of God as my foundation.
After reading the letter from the mother who lost her son to the mean streets, I wanted to share how my twenty-two year-old son changed his life around from negative to positive. After my son went to the fifth funeral of one of his friends killed, he joined the Air Force. I'll never forget what he said to me when he got home from that last funeral. His exact words were, "Mom, if I don't get out of this negative environment I think my funeral might be next.”
Bishop, my son was never in trouble and he completed high school and has no children, so he got out while the getting out was good.
On this past Mother's Day he called me, sent me flowers and a beautiful watch and told me how much he loved me.
His father was never in his life but he didn't use that as an excuse to go down the wrong path like so many of his friends.
Just wanted to share this with you Bishop.
Bishop Moultry,
On Mother's Day I had the best time of my life with my three sons, all working, all going to church every Sunday and all good fathers and great husbands. My sons father never was in their life and I did all I could to raise them to respect women and be God fearing. It was really hard on me bishop, but looking at them at the dinner they took me out to on Mother's Day, I broke down and cried because I was so proud of them.
The best Mother's Day gift any child could give their mother is to just do the right thing. If I could work three jobs to do for my three sons as I did as a single mother there is no excuse for any other mother to not sacrifice for her children by raising them.
Plus Bishop, I heard you say on a radio talk show that, "Everyday is Mother's Day as long as she is living." My sons honor me as their mother everyday.
Keep of the good work Bishop!
Bishop Moultry,
On Mother's Day my children went to church with me, took me out to eat and spent the entire day with me. I have seven children, all grown, five sons and two daughters. Bishop all my sons have never been in trouble, because their father, before he passed away and myself, took a lot of time out with them and told them about life. My daughters, both married selected their husbands, who in a lot of ways are like their dad. They work, and they respect women and know how to be the head of their house. My sons, who are also married, picked their wives who have a lot of ways like me.
My point, Bishop, is that it's important that children reflect their parents as my children did.
Mother's Day was the best and I think as their mother, I did the best I could, as it shows in all of them.
