What a wonderful, powerful service this past Sunday as I preached the last series of “A Spiritual Mind in 2013” Part IV.
As always, let’s go to the word of God as I make some power points that each of you will be able to hopefully use as you go through your day and week, handling your business.
Proverbs 3:5,6 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart. Never rely on what you think you know. Remember the Lord in everything you do and he will show you the right way.”
Now, in that scripture quote, I want to go back to the verse which states, “Remember the Lord in everything you do and he will show you the right way.”
So here’s a question for you… how do one remember the Lord?
We remember the Lord by keeping “intouch” and “intune” and “in step” through his WORD, the BIBLE (Basic, Instructions, Before Leaving Earth). AMEN!
For starters to stay in a spiritual state of mind, once in a spiritual state of mind, there will be some things you will have to do to remain there.
First… let’s read 1 Peter 5:8 “Be alert, be on watch! Your enemy the devil roams around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour.”
Be aware of people, places, and things to stay in a spiritual state of mind. The devil will use people just to eat you up and kill your spirit if you allow them. Don’t give your power away. Also the devil has no respect of persons. If he tried to tempt Jesus in Matthew 4, how much more will he try and tempt me a servant of the Lord as well as you.
Okay, turn your Bible to John 10:10. “The thief comes only in order to steal, kill and destroy. I have come in order that you might have life-life in all its fullness.”
Who is the thief? Satan! What does a thief do? Takes what does not belong to him! Amen! We belong to Christ as he shed his blood for you and me so we are under the protection of Christ. Sometimes, it’s best to stay clear of individuals who are not only draining your spirit but killing it as well. People will drain your spirit through their attitude, negative thinking and behavior. People will drain your spirit because they start mess, keep up mess, and put you in the mess. Remember, an empty wagon makes a lot of noise and right away you know these individuals have NO LIFE.
Some people live in your house and life so much you ought to tell them when your rent is due and they should pay it. THEY WILL DRAIN YOUR SPIRIT! RUN IN THE OTHER DIRECTION!
I remember giving another car a jump and the car was bigger than mine. After I gave the jump, the women drove off and left my battery dead. I don’t know why that happened but I don’t give jumps anymore. Likewise individuals, when they know you are trying to become spiritual and stay spiritual and Serve the Lord, will try and drain your spirit.
It’s important you stayed prayed up.
A woman prayed to God and said, “Lord protect me from my enemies,” and she looked around a few weeks later and realized she started losing family and friends.
Sometimes, to love even some of your family members and friends, you’ll have to love them from a distance. Never forget that peace is not the absence of conflict but the ability to cope with it.
As I close out, let me go to Ephesians 6:16. “At all times carry faith as a shield; for with it you will be able to put out the burning arrows shot by the evil one.”
