Unity Day at St. James AME.
All are welcome to celebrate family and community in support of our neighborhood students on March 18
Cleveland (March 8, 2012) – St. James A.M.E. Church again invites the community to join in celebration for its annual Family Unity Day on Sunday, March 18 as they celebrate family, community and education.
As in years past, the church will honor the winner of its Luther E. Smith Legacy Award. This is an annual award recognizing an organization that is making a positive impact in the community. The 2012 award will be presented to George Washington Carver and East Clark elementary schools to support their before and after school programs. Previous Legacy Award winners include the City Mission, East End Neighborhood House, Fairfax Renaissance Community Development Corporation, Senior Outreach Services and BRICK.
“We want to support the before and after school programs of these schools to help our children succeed in and outside of the classroom. Before and after school programs provide students with tutoring, safe recreational activities and an opportunity to grow as young men and women,” said Pastor Gerald A. Cooper and Co-Pastor Mila P. Cooper of St. James A.M.E. Church.
