Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church is making the Journey

rev simmonsMt. Pleasant Baptist Church on pace for greatness

Cleveland has a church that has grown so large they now have service in John Adams High School. The church I’m talking about is the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church located at 13009 Kinsman Rd.

This church is a place where you can go, not only to hear some great singing but enjoy the word of God preached by Pastor Dewayne Simmons. Simmons grew up at the New Light Baptist Church under the late great Rev. V. J. Weathersby.

This church is a place where Simmons believes in preaching and teaching from the Bible, a bible teaching church. Simmons, whose is large in statue but has a loving heart, can pull it.

The music part of the service is directed by a young man named Derrick Lockett, who has enough energy with his directing to go on for most of the day and not get tired. The choir recently had a winter concert and not only could you not get a seat, people were standing along the walls and in the hallways just to listen and enjoy this dynamic choir.

The choir is made up of many soloists from around the city, so no matter who’s singing Harriett, Monica, Derrick, Queenie, Jackie or Kevin, they are going to bring the power of the Lord in. Helping Derrick is a great musical staff, all seem to be under 30 but anointed.

Mt.Pleasant Baptist Church is one of those quietly emerging churches in Cleveland. The church provides traditional Baptist worship services, youth and adult ministry programs, and advanced Bible study classes to greaterCleveland community.

When you enter the doors, you know you are welcome because of the kindness each member extends to you. While visiting the church, I was surprised to see a radio host by the name of Tanya Lynne who greeted me with a warm hug.

Simmons knows Jesus Christ came into the world so people might have life. That is, that they might have life abundantly and they might have it eternally. And yet we have found that there are all kinds of people in our country, people who attend church regularly, try to live a good life, and even follow the teachings of Jesus Christ yet churches have failed to communicate to them how they can know for sure that they have eternal life and are going to Heaven.

So if you get a chance stop by and tell them you heard about the great service they have from the Call & Post.
