The Bengals today made the following roster moves:

            * Placed LB Thomas Howard on the Reserve/Injured list. Howard suffered a season-ending knee injury in practice yesterday. The seventh-year pro from Texas-El Paso was Cincinnati’s tackling leader last season (120), and he was again in the starting WLB role for 2012. In Week 1 at Baltimore, he logged four tackles with a sack, plus one pass defensed.

            * Signed free agent LB Roddrick Muckelroy, a third-year player from Texas. Muckelroy (6-2, 250) was with the Bengals in preseason, starting three games as an injury replacement and finishing second on the club in tackles (17), including a sack. He was a Bengals fourth-round draft choice in 2010. He played in 14 games in ’10, but missed all of last season due to an Achilles injury suffered in training camp.
