STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (AP) -- About 30 Penn State football players say they're staying put despite devastating sanctions levied by the NCAA.

Although convicted former assistant Jerry Sandusky wasn't mentioned by name, senior linebacker Michael Mauti said Wednesday the program would not be torn down by "one man." A scathing investigative report found former coach Joe Paterno helped cover up a child sex abuse scandal.

Mauti says "no sanction, no politician" will take away Penn State's accomplishments.

Senior fullback Michael Zordich calls the players "true Penn Staters" who will stick out the sanctions rather than take the option of transferring to another school.
