Tiger Woods tied for third with three others at Firestone

Tiger Woods usually rocks at the Firestone Country Club. Right now though, the seven time champion on this course is tied with three other players for third place at 66 after the first-round of the WCG-Bridgestone Invitational.
On the leader board, Webb Simpson, who is playing in his very first tournament at Firestone, is currently in the lead and swinging with confidence and authority. He is currently 6-under par after having a good day today and sits atop the pack at 64.
Simpson is no stranger to the game of golf though. He was the 2012 U.S. Open champion. He is looking to tame the field and hopefully stay a step, or at least a hole ahead of golf's wonder child, Tiger Woods.
Meanwhile, British Open champion, Phil Mickelson is struggling with his shot and has admitted to "not being focused." His 2-over 72 is proof enough that he wasn't "mentally sharp" either as he also stated.
According to Simpson, this tournament is the creme de la creme. "With the incredible field it draws every year, this is the tournament that you want to be in. You want to able to play with the best of the best. So, naturally I am excited to be here as one of the best. It really is an honor," he said.
Last year, Simpson was a no-show at the invitational because he was home welcoming a new baby girl into the world. In 2011, his game just wasn't strong enough, as the tournament is open to the top 50 golfers on the curcuit.
Unfortunately, Simpson was ranked 51st and missed the cut and the opportunity to play at Firestone.
Right now, Simpson is sitting comfortably in the drivers seat and will be back at it first thing in the morning. He will tee-off at 1:40p.m.tomorrow afternoon with Lee Westwood.
Tiger Woods hits the greens at 1:10p.m.
