After a lackluster performance on Thursday night in Chicago, in which they barely made it past the Chicago Bears, 18-16, the Cleveland Browns are readying themselves for the regular season opener next Sunday afternoon at FirstEnergy Stadium.
On Friday, in order to get down to the mandated 53-man roster by 4pm today (Saturday), the Browns began showing their hand and handed out a few pick slips to players who didn't make the team.
OL Braxton Cave; WR Mike Edwards;TE Don Gronkowski, DB Abdul Kanneh; RB Miguel Maysonet; DB Kent Richardson; and P/K Colton Schmidt were among the first wave of players to be let go by the Browns.
Colton was just picked up off waivers earlier in the week.
There will be additional team cuts with the next few hours. The list will be available later this afternoon.
The Browns will face the Miami Dolphins in the hom opener next Sunday afternoon.
