"Today, younger audiences may not necessarily know about Charlie Parker, Stan Getz or Monk or even Miles Davis, but they know that they like this music. When they hear this tribute to Michael, someone who they can relate to because he wasn't from some dark age long ago, they will have a better appreciation for not only our music but for the art form itself."
He gives big props to his band mates and their ability to "get down." He adds, "Both Norman and Rick are playing better than they ever have on this record. I mean that and you're gonna’ hear that come across loud and clear in the music. Yeah, we did our homework. We wrote out the arrangements and everything."
Percussionist and drummer, Sheila E., makes an appearance on an album that is already chock-full of stars, and is guaranteed to make a huge noise on the jazz scene.
The CD features classic Jackson ditties, "Another Part of Me," "Billie Jean," "Human Nature," "Beat It," "Who's Loving You," "She's Out of My Life," "Shake Your Body Down To The Ground," "The Way You Make Me Feel," "I Can't Help It," "I'll Be There" and "Man in the Mirror."
The trio will be in the Ohio area twice before year’s end. They will rock in Kettering, Ohio on August 10 at the Fraze Pavilion, and will be in Akron on October 5th at the Akron Civic Center.
The album is released on Heads Up Records.
