The Marion Motley/ Earle Brown Memorial Scholarship Fund annual golf tournament was held last month to raise scholarship funds for students in the Greater Cleveland area, The golf outing was held at Highland Golf Course on Green Road. Traditionally members of the Browns Alumni group join other professional athletes and men and women who love the game of golf to assure a day of fun and camaraderie.
This year marked the 12th anniversary for the Scholarship Tournament. Organized by Earle Brown in memory of Cleveland Brown's Hall of Fame fullback Marion Motley the committee added Brown's name to the contest after his death.
Over the 12 years the Committee has raised over $44,000.00 to benefit worthy students.
Organizing the tournament was Margaret Brown.
Tournament co chairs were former Cleveland Brown Greg Pruitt and former Cleveland Cavalier Austin Carr.
An original committee member, Webster Hales, always organized a raffle as part of the day's activities. To honor Webster Hales who passed away last year the Committee has named its annual raffle, The Webster Hales Raffle.
