Ceremonies in Dark Old Men featuring Peter Lawson Jones
Karamu House presents the award winning play Cermonies in Dark Old Men by Lonne Elder III from January 31 to February 23, 2014 in its Arena Theatre. This play concerns the ceremonies acted out by African American men. Mr. Russel B. Parker owns a floundering barbershop on 126th Street in Harlem. He is kept afloat by the fact that his daughter Adele works, which gives the family enough of an income to survive. His sons Bobby and Theo are attracted to a life of crime. Deliverance: Incidents In the Life of Henry Box Brown: The story of a slave who escaped slavery by mailing himself North in a crate. Saturdays and Sundays

Karamus House TALENT SHOW – FREE, February 27, 2014
Come one, Come all to compete in a Talent Show for youth and adults hosted by Karamu's Cultural Arts & Education Programs 6:00 to 8:00 pm. Please complete a talent show application by February 20, 2014 and return to Karamu's Business Office. Application attached.

Fairfax Health Center Celebrates Black History Month every Wednesday during the month of February with Legacy Lunches. Each Wednesday enjoy a lunch buffet, a guest speaker and a fashion show highlighting Black History. The Legacy Lunches are from 12:30 pm to 2:30 pm. February 12, 19 and 26th. 2014 Louis Stokes Leadership Symposium to feature U. S. Rep. Marcia L. Fudge (OH-11) and Chair of the Congressional Black Caucus will serve as the keynote speaker at Case Western Reserve University on Monday, February 10, 2014 at 12:30pm Fudge’s address, “Seizing Opportunity: Public Service and Beyond,” will discuss the value of public service in contributing to personal development and building a stronger nation and communities.
