André Thornton receives the Business Trailblazer Tribute

On Friday June 20, 2014, André Thornton, President and CEO of ASW Global, LLC received the Business Trailblazer Tribute presented by the Christian Business League at the “Faith and Finance” Breakfast at the Manor Party Center. The Business Trailblazer Tribute recognizes individuals, who are senior in their career, for their outstanding and unique business contributions.

Mr. Thornton was introduced by Trailblazer Dr. Julian Earls. A Tribute was given by Trailblazer Josie Lindsay, who stated, “Andre is a man who professes his faith, is passionate and knows his purpose.” An additional Tribute was given by Allen M. Siverls, Vice President of Calhoun Funeral Homes, who stated, “Andre Thornton is an inspiration to all African American business people. Mr. Thornton in his acceptance remarks, stated the following, “We have to know where we come from, what we are here for and where we are going. Live a life with purpose—we have a tremendous opportunity to help those around us every day. Apply what we learn and lead to make a difference. Don’t worry about your reputation, worry about your challenge.”

Four business leaders presented profiles of their businesses: Art Baker of Calhoun Funeral Homes; Diana Jones of the Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District; Carl Kirkland of the Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority and Lisa Ealy of the Purple Squirrel Group. The Zenobia N. Earls/Christian Business League Scholarships were presented to Lauren Larkin and Jessica Lughas, both currently attending Howard University.

The Christian Business League was formed with the mission, “to serve as a Faith Based organization, using a collaborative approach to community-wide economic development and empowerment.” The next “Faith and Finance” Breakfast will be held on September 12, 2014, with State Senator Nina Turner as the guest speaker.
