On Sunday, July 13, 2014, Rev. Dr. Rodney S. Thomas and Marcia Kennon married in front of friends and members of the Imani Temple Ministries family after his Sunday morning worship service.

The service was conducted by Rev. Rory Tate and the bridal party included Raven Thomas, daughter of the groom; Kendyl Kennon, daughter of the bride; Rodney Thomas Jr., son of the groom and Jason Harper II, God son to Rev. Thomas.

Rev. Thomas is pastor and founding father of Imani Temple Ministries in Cleveland, Ohio. Growing up as the son of a pastor, his background was steeped in a religious environment. Although he was greatly influenced by his father, the Reverend Elmer M. Martin, he believes that the Lord called him to preach and vividly remembers the first sermon-preaching endeavor he ever embarked upon.

His wife is a pharmaceutical representative.

Raised in Memphis, Tennessee, Rev. Thomas attended Lemoyne-Owen College, after graduating from high school, and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in sociology and criminology, graduating Cum Laude. He also holds a Master of Divinity degree from the Methodist Theological School of Ohio and is currently completing studies toward a Doctor of Divinity degree at the Ashland Theological Seminary in Ashland, Ohio.

Thomas is also the recipient of an Honorary Doctorate in Divinity awarded by Monrovia College, Liberia, West Africa. Before being led by the Holy Spirit to find this ministry of Imani Temple, he was assigned to the historic St. James A.M.E. Church.
