Cleveland now has to show the world they can win.

Cleveland seems to have made some great improvements to their sports teams for 2014 from the much anticipated announcement of LeBron James coming home to the Cavaliers drafting Andrew Wiggins and the Browns drafting Justin Gilbert and Johnny Manziel.

James and hopefully Wiggins will be joining Kyrie Irving and Anthony Bennett to help lead the Cavaliers to many victories this year. The buzz around Cleveland is wonderful these days and ticket sells have skyrocketed for both the Browns and Cavaliers’ upcoming season.

For me, growing up in Cleveland and watching all teams play for so many years, this is exciting. The days of watching Bingo Smith, Austin Carr, Mark Price, Brad Daughtery and Larry Nance and others play at the old Arena, Richfield and Quicken Loans Arena, I can once again smile because of our lineup.

This year Dion Waiter has been selected to play in the United States Men’s Select Team. Members of the USA Select Team will assemble in Las Vegas and train with the USA National Team July 28-31 (12 to 3 p.m. PDT). All practices will take place at UNLV’s Mendenhall Center.

The USA National Team opens its 2014 training with the Las Vegas training that concludes with the Aug. 1 (6:00 p.m. local time) 2014 USA Basketball Showcase that features a Blue-White intrasquad game at UNLV’s Thomas & Mack Center.

After hearing about Wiggins signing on Thursday, July 24, many are still wondering if he will stay a Cavalier or be traded for Kevin Love. Regardless, he’s in limbo because they can’t trade him before August 23.

Cleveland worked out a four-year deal with a starting salary of $5.5 million for Wiggins that should be a good faith gesture.

“I hope the Cavs can figure out a way to keep Wiggins and get Love. Wiggins will contribute more in a couple of years with experience and playing in the NBA,” said Vincent Wade, a fan of the game.

People are talking, throughout the city, about keeping Wiggins.

“Cavs aren’t winning anything this year. They won 98 games in 4 years and all of a sudden they NBA champs? Other teams got better too, namely CHA and WA. What LeBron has the ability to do is realistically give them a shot at the playoffs,” said longtime sports advocate Vashon Keith B McGlothin.

The Browns has a lot to prove too now they have new coach, new president and Manziel which the world seems to be watching his every move. But one thing they don’t have is a Super Bowl.

They have never been to the Super Bowl, let alone won the big game. Back in the day, they won plenty of national championships in the 50s and 60s before the creation of the Super Bowl.

We all know the Browns had the great Jim Brown.

In 2014, Cleveland set a franchise record for the most new season-ticket and suite sales in one season, accomplishing the feat in back-to-back years. By being active with the 2014 Season Ticket Member Benefit Card, Browns season-ticket members will be entered for a chance to win exclusive experiences and prizes, including a film session with General Manager Ray Farmer, lunch with select Browns players, a trip to the team’s opener at Pittsburgh, a tour of the equipment room, having a Browns player record their voicemail greeting, the opportunity to park like a player for a home game, pregame sideline passes and more.
