“To blessed to be stressed….laugh”

Maintenance … Last Child Support Cheque!!!

Today be my baby girl 18th birthday. I be so glad that dis be my last child support payment! Month after month, year after year, all dose payments! So I call my baby girl, LaKeesha, to come to my house, and when she get here, I say, “Baby girl, I want you to take dis cheque over to yo momma house and tell her dis be the last cheque she ever be gettin’ from me, and I want you to come back and tell me the ‘spression on yo momma face”. So, my baby girl takes the cheque over to her momma. I be anxious to hear what she say; and bout the ‘spression on her face. Baby girl walk through the door, I say, “Now what yo momma say 'bout dat?” She say to tell you that “you ain’t my daddy”, AND TA WATCH THE ’SPRESSION ON YO FACE”!!!

Ooowee! The Joy of laughter! When I opened up with this at my last speaking engagement the place erupted in laughter and as I stood at the mike holding my cup of coffee, which I spilled all over my robe, I acted as though I had heard it myself for the first time. If laughter cannot solve your problems; it will definitely DISSOLVE your problems; so that you can think clearly what to do about them. It is said that a smile is a curve that sets everything straight. Somebody said that as soap is to the body, so laughter is to the soul. In my Good News Bible the Good News Translation goes with me to Proverbs 15:15 and it reads, “The life of the poor is a constant struggle, but happy people always enjoys life.” I said this last week in my column and I’m saying it again, that your situation does not have to be your destination. Back to the Word of God let’s go to PSALMS 42:5, “Why am I so sad? Why am I so troubled? I will put my hope in God, and once again I will praise him, my savior and my God.” How many of you want to confuse the devil? How many of you really want him to run in the other direction when he comes at you when you’re going through something? Here’s the answer: In the mist of your tears, your problems, your pain, just PRAISE YOUR WAY THROUGH and watch him flee. When someone comes to you with negative comments or complaints, or talk to you about something you have no control over, the quickest way to get rid of them is to start talking positive, start talking about the good things and watch them flee. Why? Because misery loves company but they will soon learn you will not be their company today. Get ready to lose a few friends! I want each of you to understand that acceptance is the answer to all our problems today. The youth make this a little clearer when they say, “It is what it is”. See, when I am disturbed, it is because I find some person, place, thing, or situation -- some fact of my life unacceptable to me, and I can find no serenity until I accept that person, place, thing, or situation as being exactly the way it is supposed to be at that moment. Also I want each of you to understand that absolutely nothing happens in God’s world by mistake. Unless I accept life completely on life’s terms, I cannot be happy. I need to concentrate not so much on what needs to be changed, as on what needs to be changed in me and my attitudes. Everybody wants to change the world yet nobody seems to want to change. No matter what life toss at you, with prayer, faith and pressing on anyhow just learn to laugh through the storm. Never frown, even when you are sad, because you never know who is falling in love with your smile. Ooowee! Make yourself a better person and know who you are before you try and know someone else and expect them to know you. But if nothing else let them feel your spirit of JOY even in the midnight hour. AND SMILE for the Joy of the Lord is your Strength!!!
