Things aren’t always what they seem

Ooowee!

Two traveling angels stopped to spend the night in the home of a wealthy family. The family was rude and refused to let the angels stay in the mansion’s guest room. Instead, the angels were given a small space in the cold basement. As they made their bed on the hard floor, the older angel saw a hole in the wall and repaired it. When the younger angel asked why the older angel replied, “Things aren’t always what they seem.” The next night, the angels came to rest at the house of a very poor but very hospitable farmer and his wife. After sharing what little food they had, the couple let the angels sleep in their bed where they could have a good night’s rest. When the sun came up the next morning, the angels found the farmer and his wife in tears. There only cow whose milk had been their sole income lay dead in the field. The younger angel became upset and asked the older angel, “How could you let this happen?” The first man had everything, yet you helped him,” the angel accused, “but the second family had little but was willing to share everything and you let the cow die.” “Things aren’t always what they seem,” the older angel replied. “When we stayed in the basement of the mansion, I noticed there was gold stored in the hole in the wall. Since the owner was so obsessed with greed and unwilling to share his good fortune, I sealed the wall so he wouldn’t find it.” Then last night as we slept in the farmer’s bed, the angel of death came for his wife. I gave him the cow instead.” Ooowee! Somebody say Amen! I shared this power story with each of you my readers because I want you to realize that things that we experience throughout our life aren’t always what they seem. Sometimes that is exactly what happens when things don’t always turn out the way that they should or the way we want them to. We don’t understand God ways yet we must continue to walk by faith and not by sight. Some people come into our lives and quickly go. Some people become friends and stay just for a little while leaving beautiful footprints of memories on our hearts and we are never quite the same because we have made a good friend! I want each of you to know that yesterday is history. The only time to look back is to correct yesterday’s mistake for today which is the present. That’s why it’s called the present. Each of us should never forget that today is a gift from God. ENJOY IT! Tomorrow is a mystery. We may have our plans for tomorrow but never forget that God has the last word and can change our plans. We are blessed when he gives us FAVOR to do just that in what we’ve planned to do for that day. The gift of life is a special moment so we must live and savor every moment and never forget that this is not a dress rehearsal so enjoy it. Remember God owes us nothing yet gives of everything! The smile on my face doesn’t mean my life is perfect. It means I appreciate what I have and what God has blessed me with. I also want each of you my readers to know that everybody wants to live on top of the mountain but character and growth occurs while you’re climbing the mountain. Like those two angels dealing with two situations with the older angel explaining to the younger one that things are not as we always see them there will be times when things will happen and we’ll hopefully understand by and by and some things we may never understand yet we must trust God. And never forget that just when the caterpillar thought the world was over it became a butterfly. I want each of you to know there’s a future even in the end. Just keep the faith and don’t forget things are not always as they seem for a reason. Amen!
