CLEVELAND, Ohio — Two children — a 10-year-old girl and a 9-year-old boy — have been charged in juvenile court following a shocking assault on a 5-year-old girl, prosecutors confirmed.
The alleged attack occurred on September 13, 2025, after the young girl was dropped off by her mother, Antavia Kennibrew, at a relative’s home on Cleveland’s east side. According to court documents and the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor’s Office, she somehow wandered out the front door and was later found in a nearby field by EMS personnel.
The prosecutor’s office has charged the two juveniles with multiple serious offenses:
- Attempted murder (1 count)
- Rape (4 counts)
- Felonious assault (2 counts)
- Kidnapping (1 count)
- Strangulation (1 count)
Because the suspects are minors, their names have not been released.
Kennibrew described the moment she first saw her daughter after the incident. “What I saw was unbelievable,” she said. “My daughter was not my daughter. Her hair was scalped from her head. She had bruises and blood all over her body. Her eyes were filled with blood. Her lips and mouth were filled with blood. Her nails had debris and dirt stuck in them.”
The attack has left the 5-year-old physically and emotionally traumatized. Kennibrew said her daughter is now in therapy.
Prosecutors and police say the investigation is ongoing. Juvenile court proceedings are expected to continue in the coming weeks.
