The Call & Post Newspaper

The Call & Post was founded in 1916 by Cleveland inventor Garrett Morgan. In 1929, it merged with the Cleveland Post to become the Call & Post Newspaper. Under the leadership of editor & publisher W.O. Walker in 1932, the Call & Post became the most influential voice for African Americans in metropolitan regions throughout Ohio.

The Call & Post is distributed weekly, each Wednesday, at a news stands at a price of $0.50. Known as “The People’s Paper”, it provides local, national, and international news to Cleveland, Cincinnati, Columbus, and other urban centers in Ohio, serving a readership of over 80,000.

Ad Production & Additional Charges

  • Creative Work: Additional 15% of the ad cost or a minimum charge of $50 for ad development, typesetting, etc.
  • Photography Services: $50 additional charge for an in-house photographer.
  • Revisions:
    • Advertisers requesting 33% or more revision to a proof ad will incur a $15 service charge.
    • Call & Post is not responsible for errors once the advertiser approves the proof.
    • Changes to PDF files must be made by the client and a new PDF must be submitted.
  • Unacceptable Formats: Microsoft Word or Publisher files for ad production.

Display Advertising

  • Space Reservation: Wednesday at 3:00 PM (prior to publication)
  • Ad Copy Submission: Friday at 12:00 Noon (before publication week)

Classified Advertising

  • Space Reservation: Friday at 12:00 Noon (prior to publication)
  • Ad Copy Submission: Monday at 12:00 Noon (before the publication date)

Inserts

  • Scheduling: Two weeks prior to the desired insertion date
  • Delivery Deadline: Friday at 4:00 PM (before the insertion date)
  • Shipping Details:
    • Clearly mark shipments as “CALL & POST” with quantity number and publication insertion date

Cancellations

  • Deadline: Friday at 12:00 Noon (prior to publication week)
  • If no notice is received, the advertiser/agency will be billed for the space reservation.
  • Late Cancellations: A 10% charge may apply if submitted after the deadline.
  • No cancellations honored during the run week—NO EXCEPTIONS.
  • The publisher reserves the right to refuse any advertisement.
