LICKING COUNTY, Ohio — A heartbreaking water rescue operation on the Licking River ended in tragedy after a 15-year-old girl lost her life following an incident that drew a massive emergency response from multiple agencies.
According to fire officials, emergency crews were dispatched Sunday afternoon to the Licking River after reports that individuals were trapped in dangerous river conditions near a downed tree. Initial reports indicated that a family had been kayaking when their teenage daughter became caught in a log jam amid swift-moving waters.
