Overnight Standoff in Parma Heights Ends Peacefully, Suspect in Custody

PARMA HEIGHTS, Ohio – A tense situation in Parma Heights ended without injury late Sunday night after an hours-long standoff with an armed man experiencing a mental health crisis.

Police were called just before midnight to the area of Stumph Road near Big Creek Parkway after reports of a man walking with a weapon.

When officers arrived, they located the individual and attempted to de-escalate the situation. According to authorities, the encounter led to a standoff that stretched for approximately two hours.

Fortunately, the incident ended peacefully — no shots were fired, and no injuries were reported. Officers were able to safely take the man into custody.

He was transported to a local hospital for evaluation. Police say charges may still be filed as the investigation continues.

The identity of the man has not been released.
