Beachwood selects one of the few female-minority principals – Newly selected principal of Beachwood High School

BEACHWOOD, OH – Beachwood City Schools is pleased to announce the selection of Rebekah Sharpe as the next principal of Beachwood High School. She was approved by the Beachwood Board of Education at their meeting on Monday, February 9, 2026.

“We welcome Rebekah Sharpe as the next principal of Beachwood High School,” Superintendent Dr. Robert Hardis said. “Ms. Sharpe demonstrated outstanding educational knowledge and leadership qualities throughout the application and interview process. She is an experienced administrator with a reputation for her thoughtful, student-centered approach, diligence, resolve, and professionalism. I am confident she will work effectively with our students, staff, and families to maintain academic excellence and expand opportunities for every student to achieve their post-high school and career aspirations.”

“What excites me most about serving in Beachwood is the deep, unmistakable respect this community shows for its culture, its people, and especially its educators. Beachwood is a place where teaching is not just appreciated but uplifted—where families and educators work together to ensure that students thrive and feel genuinely valued,” Sharpe said. Sharpe joins Beachwood from the Cleveland Heights–University Heights City School District, where she has served as principal of Roxboro Middle School since 2023.

In this role, she oversaw the school’s daily operations, advanced continuous improvement in student academic performance and social‑emotional development, implemented PBIS frameworks, and fostered strong, collaborative partnerships with families and the broader community. Prior to her principalship at Roxboro, Sharpe served as assistant principal at Shaker Heights High School and as Dean of Students at Shaker Heights Middle School.

In addition to her administrative experience, Ms. Sharpe was a music teacher in Shaker Heights City Schools and Columbus City Schools. “I am genuinely energized by the opportunity to cultivate deep, authentic relationships with our students — relationships that help them feel known, supported, and confident as they chart a course for their future. There is something powerful about walking alongside young people as they discover who they are and who they hope to become,” Sharpe said.

In her first year, Sharpe will prioritize building strong relationships with students, staff, and families while gaining a deep understanding of Beachwood’s culture. She will focus on ensuring consistent, student‑centered daily operations; strengthening academic and social‑emotional supports; and fostering a positive, unified school climate grounded in pride and belonging. She is committed to listening, learning, and collaborating with all community partners to establish shared goals that advance student success and reinforce Beachwood’s tradition of excellence.

Sharpe is a graduate of Capital University with a Bachelor of Music in Music Education. She earned a master’s degree in music education from Kent State University and an Educational Leadership degree from the University of Cincinnati.
